Crop/Soil/Climate Data to Model Soil Carbon Changes

County-level modeling of soil carbon changes has provided GREET LCA with the soil carbon sequestration and emission potentials of land use and land management changes resulting from corn grain and cellulosic feedstock production in the conterminous United States. This research effort utilizes a process-based simulation model (i.e. a parameterized CENTURY) along with spatiotemporal crop/soil/climate data.


Soil Carbon Data to Evaluate Land Management Impacts

Regional database of land management impacts on soil carbon changes has been developed to provide GREET LCA with empirical data on the soil carbon sequestration/emission potentials of land management changes resulting from cellulosic feedstock production in the conterminous United States. This research effort couples publicly available data from published literature and/or open source database with meta-analyses.


On-Farm Energy Consumption to Calculate Farming Carbon Intensity

On-Farm Energy Use for Crop Production has been compiled from the USDA’s Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) and the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE) reports to calculate the carbon intensity of feedstock production for biofuels. This data is updated with special tabulations based on the ARMS costs and returns data
